Join the Working Women’s Network, Yale African American Affinity Group, and Yale Veterans Network for a discussion with John Mills, an independent scholar and president of the Alex Breanne Corporation (a Connecticut-based non-profit researching the lives of the enslaved), about individuals of Connecticut's colored regiments.

John will focus on the Colored troops of Connecticut during the Civil War: the Connecticut 29th and 30th Colored Regiments and the 31st U.S. Colored Troops. We will dig into how they were formed, who the men were, what their experiences were, and how we honor them today. Other work to be discussed is the life and times of Thaddeus & Mary Newton, as well as information about an upcoming celebration of life at their gravesite in June.

This will be an in-person event on the campus of Yale University at Sterling Memorial Library Lecture Hall located at 120 High St in New Haven, CT.
