In the mid 1700’s, a Native American enslaved man in Simsbury, considered unsatisfactory, was said to have been sent to the West Indies in exchange for an African. That African they received in exchange was Peter Jackson. Peter would eventually marry Esther Wallace of Windsor. This union would produce 10 childern. Peter and Esther would have 7 grandson’s who enlisted in colored regiments during the Civil War. In this lecture, we will celebrate the history of this family.
