Connecticut, Color and the Civil War: Little known stories of the Black Experience in Connecticut

On June 11th, 2025 at 6:30pm, John Mills will be giving a lecture for the Waterford Public Library.

During this presentation, John will delve into the lives and experiences of some of the men who enlisted in Connecticut's Colored Regiments during the Civil War, what drove them to enlist and the perspective of Connecticut at the time. John will also discuss legislation that affected those of color in Connecticut as well as his research into past enslaved individuals in Connecticut, highlighting their experiences and his work to acknowledge them.
