On Tuesday October 20, 2026 at 6pm, Denis Caron, John Mills and Dr. Jesse Nasta will be at Wesleyan RJ Julia Bookstore in Middletown, Connecticut for the launch of the second edition of A Century in Captivity!

During this presentation, Denis Caron will start out with a few words about how a second edition came to be, primarily focusing on the work of John Mills in revitalizing interest in Prince Mortimer. He will also talk about Dr. Jesse Nasta and his contribution focusing on the the wider story of Connecticut and Middletown slavery.

Dr. Nasta will then discuss his contributions to the book.

Denis Caron will then give an outline of the discovery of Prince's story, and a general overview of its three main aspects: his life of enslavement in Middletown and the story of the Philip Mortimer will contest; his life in Old Newgate Prison; and finally his life in Wethersfield Prison.

John Mills will then discuss his work in general and in particular his involvement in Prince's story and the various new material discovered for the book.

There will be a Q&A and book signing after the prepared program.
