Norwich Lecture & Walking Tour!

On June 23rd, 2025 at 5:30pm, John Mills will be giving a talk at the First Congregational Church of Norwich! The lecture will focus on a Norwich enslaved man named Primus.

Primus (or Primus Arms) was a man formerly enslaved to Capt. Ebenezer Lathrop in Norwich, CT. He was taken from his sick mother's arms in Africa when he was a child and placed on a slave ship. Primus' son Job served in the Revolutionary War. Many years later, 2 of his 2nd Great Grandson's served during the Civil War.

After the talk, the Norwich Historical Society will be giving a walking tour of the historic homes and locations in the area.
