Connecticut & Color: Little known stories of the Black Experience in Connecticut

On June 20th, 2025 at 10am, John Mills will be giving a lecture for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Connecticut - Waterbury.

During this presentation, John will delve into his own family history of enslavement, how it impacted him, his research into past enslaved individuals in Connecticut (highlighting the enslaved man Fortune of Waterbury) and the perspective of our state at the time.  He will also delve into how we present the narratives of the enslaved today, as well as his many projects to inject these individuals into the communities where they lived, worked or died.
